MG MG Farina Magnette - Another Magnette on Ebay

This looks like a very nice Farina Magnette on Ebay UK this morning. It's currently at £0.99.

Hello all,

I haven't spent much time in the shop in recent weeks but did get out there Saturday to begin stripping out my engine bay. This is a car I've driven for several years but I've never had anything in the engine bay apart, so the views we see here are about as new to me as they are to you. I knew this car had a hand-fabricated header on it, but it wasn't until I got the carbs and intake manifold off yesterday that I saw what this header looks like.

Now, take a look at the attached picture and give me some honest opinions please. I admit that the directness of this design has its appeal from the simplicity-of-design department, but look - no center branch at all. When I someday put this car back together, would I be smarter to ditch this header and go to that beautiful long-branch Zeroexhaust header that John Perkins had built? See it at http://pws.prserv.net/fieldnotes/ John's car, like mine, is LH drive. Don't forget to enjoy John's quad-carb Magnette!

Holiday Cheers!

Oops, wrong subject, wrong thread. I'll repost to Magnettes.

I sure hope somebody gets above the reserve on this car in the next four hours. Unless the seller is conning us, this is a really nice car that's about to meet with a fate worse than death.

I'm on the wrong side of the pond, and my Navigator reminds me that one Farina Mk IV is enough.

FWIW,

Another one gone on over here too Allen - in classic car parts - item number 290193775503

Seats dont look correct ones and has rostyles fitted - has a nice history though.

Do you get many over there up on ebay Allen? - post links if you do and I will do the same - its nice to have a look and see whats out there.

Cheers

Hi Gobby,

You have mail! I just wrote to you and Mick about this car. I certainly will keep you informed of any Magnettes (Z or Farina) I see for sale over here. They don't come up often.

It's funny: I noticed the Rostyles, but that didn't register with me. Regarding the seats: I noticed they were different from mine, but I wondered if that was the difference between a '63 (mine) and a '65.

Cheers,
Allen
