MG MG Farina Magnette - Doors
| Hi, I am currently dismantling a 1960 Magnette 3. Is there a simple way to take off the front doors. The rears are a piece of cake but the screws on the fronts look like they would need an impact driver and some choice language. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Ian McCallum |

| Ian No real choice here but to use an impact driver. If you remove the front inner door trims / cards you should be able to soak the tips of the threads of the screws with WD40 or diesel / parafin - leave it for a few days to soak in. Then make sure you have the right size bit for the screws - large one - nice and snug fitting - before using the impact driver give the bit a good hamer blow into the screw head - and tap around the head on the face of the hinge - this will loosen it up - then give it one good wack with an impact driver - make usre its going the right way ! You may just get away with a decent screw driver - use a paid of mole grips to help with the leverage etc. You cannot knock the roll pins out of the hinges with the wings on. Good Luck Gobby |

| You know what worked awesome on mine? Sears sells screw driver bits that attach to your socket ratchet. Little bitches came right out! -John |
