MG MG Farina Magnette - Lucas part numbers?
|
|
| Does anybody know the Lucas part number for the tail lamp lenses on Mk IVs (presumably the same as Mk III)? My factory service manual gives these as: Stop/tail: 47H5293 Flasher: 47H5291 But I need the Lucas part numbers. L695? Thanks, Allen |

Hi Allen I have checked my Lucas book and if your Mk4 rear lamp is the same as my Mk3 then its a Lucas L646 - I am sure they are the same. The L646 is just the 'model' of the lamp and the Lucas part numbers are different - Top lens - amber(uk) 54570496 - red(yours?)54570810 Lower lens (stop/tail) 54570544 Base is 54570616 and 54570617 Gasket (foam) is 54570604 I think the whole lamp unit is - With Amber Top Lens - 53792A/B and 53793A/B With Red Top Lens - 53794A/B and 53795A/B Not sure what the A or B refer to I have other Lucas model types and part numbers for a Mk3 if you need them. Kindest Regards Gobby |

| Gobby, Many thanks!!! I've just been on another MGB/GT trip - this one only 2451 miles, but before we could get home again, my hard drive gave up. So currently the score is: MG: thousands Modern computer technology: zero. 8^( At any rate, that explains my delay in responding. I have a new hard drive now (courtesy of another trip - 386 miles - in my B/GT), but my memory is wiped out. ' Will recover gradually... Cheers, Allen |

Sounds like you need 're-booting' before the B ! Gobby |

| These MGs will still be going long after we and our disposable computers are gone. As I drive any MG, this thought is always with me: "Isn't this great! There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can go wrong on this car that isn't worth fixing." ' Can't say that about my computer. Cheers, Allen |

| Hey....! I have a bunch of Lucas lighting stuff ( lenses and bulbs) I'm trying to identify ( 50's to 70's ) - all new and in the factory boxes - but most of the part numbers don't show up on any websites that I've looked at. Anyone know of a good source to identify these as to their applications ? Tnks Dave |

| K John - here's a couple I've had trouble with: Lucas # 54570323 on box - L630 on lense " 7174535 on box - L753 on lense " 489-1 on lense - 572775 L.E.W.10 on rubber inside chrome bezel " 5954967 on lense - 572775 L.E.W.41 on rubber inside chrome bezel. I also have some rocker switches and pull switches made by Lucas - some new , some used.....does your book list those as well? They look old ( judging by the knobs ) Thanks - take care !! Dave |

| The L630 goes on an Austin Cambridge L753 all I can tell you is it the right hand :) 489-1 is early Morris Minor and Land Rover |

| If I remember right, the Kipp catalog is handy for identifying these. It's also handy for propping up short table legs, etc. FWIW, Allen |

| Thanks, John, for the info - I'll go from there and get them listed. Allen - I have used the Kip catalogue and know what you mean - lot of stuff in there - but the Lucas light section tells you the part numbers but not what they fit. Oh well - life isn't supposed to be easy, is it ?? Cheers, Dave (Ebay - the classic whatever shop ) |

| Hi Dave, What are you asking for your 489-1 assembly? Am missing one currently. Thank you, Mark |

| Hey you guys... Thanks! Dave, my theory is that Kip doesn't know what they fit either. ' Guess that's up to us to figure out. But the numbers are there - and that's at least a little bit helpful. I think all their products are plastic repro's, but even they are better than nothing. Cheers, Allen |

| I have a lucas D shaped tail light with the No.476 on the back plate. It has a heavy ribbed glass lens painted red on inside and has clear spot on bottom for plate. The chrome surround is good and has one screw fastening it and 2 studs for mtg. It has 2 bulbs in it for running and for plate. It looks like the MG TC lite but I think is older. Any ideas as to usage. thanks, gary |
