| Found a second hand Smiths rv1 5000/00a Small face. This is not a case earth unit. Has 6 wires, and had it tested, and seen it running at my local Smiths service mans shop steady all the way up the range. This Tach is able to be run to suit NEG or POS earth The wires are Red, and Black obviously POS NEG --- WHITE, and YELLOW-- PULSE BLUE and BROWN for light feed with earth Have wired up to suit my POS Earth system Wired up correct side of coil for pulse. Great-- Tacho works stays at about 3000 rpm in top gear , and reads the same if I change down to 3rd sometimes drops in revs as I change down. Comes back to idle at 1200rpm which I now is not the engine speed. I have tried taking the live wire BLACK from the ignition switch or the fuse box or battery. No difference. So what I am saying its wired up correctly, and working but is not giving a true rpm reading on the road. Any live wire Electricians out there?. Pardon the Punn |
